Salary: Starting from £12.71 an hour (negotiable with expereince)
About the Role - Sales Ledger Assistant
We are urgently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Sales Ledger Assistant to join our clients busy Debtors team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced finance environment and is confident working with high volumes of data and transactions.
You will play a key role in ensuring accurate reconciliation of daily cash receipts across multiple depots, supporting the smooth running of the sales ledger function.
Key Responsibilities - Sales Ledger Assistant
1. Reconcile high volumes of incoming payments against bank statements (approx. 4, lines per month)
2. Compare cashbooks to bank statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies
3. Investigate and trace variances back to source documentation, providing clear explanations
4. Manage and reconcile cash received from approximately 52 depots
5. Handle under/over banking queries and liaise with depots to resolve issues
6. Process and allocate payments, including taking card payments over the phone
7. Export and import banking data into internal systems
8. Provide support across the wider Sales Ledger team, including wholesale when required
9. Maintain accurate financial records and ensure data integrity
Skills & Experience Required - Sales Ledger Assistant
10. Previous experience in a Sales Ledger / Accounts Receivable / Credit Control role
11. Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
12. Confident working with large Excel datasets, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, sorting, and filtering
13. Comfortable working with numbers and financial data
14. Basic accounting knowledge and financial literacy
15. Experience with bank reconciliations and cash allocation
16. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
17. Excellent communication skills, with confidence liaising with internal teams and depots
18. Proactive, flexible, and a strong team player with a "can-do" attitude
Desirable (but not essential)
19. Experience with systems such as Cameo (or similar ERP systems)
20. Familiarity with payment platforms such as Elevon, PayPal, or Webpay
Additional Requirements
21. Own transport is essential due to location
22. Must be able to work on-site
