About The Role
Are you passionate about enabling people affected by dementia to share their experiences and be heard? If so, then we’d love to hear from you!
Local Involvement activities enable people living with dementia to engage in meaningful activities within a group setting, either online or face-to-face, and to have a voice. They do this by using their experiences to influence the work both of Alzheimer's Society and the health and social care environment on matters to improve the quality of their lives.
You’ll help to set up the room and tidy away at the end of the group as well as prepare and hand out refreshments. You’ll welcome and talk with people living with dementia and assist them where necessary to engage in Involvement activities and, if supporting an online group, to join in the conversation. Some light administration duties, such as registering attendees or taking meeting notes may also be involved.
The group you'll be supporting meets once a month at New Oscott Retirement Village, 25 Fosseway Drive, Birmingham, B23 5GN. It meets on the first Thursday of the month, and you would need to be there from 10:00 to 13:00.
You'll be working with a team of two dementia advisers who co-ordinate the group. There may be some light admin as well as supporting at the group itself.
