Head of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning

The role is a permanent, full‑time only role.

Monday to Friday: (08:30 am – 5:00 pm).

Salary from: Dependant on experience.

To start: September 2026.

We are pleased to advertise the position for Head of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning within the school’s Senior Management Team.

This role will work across sites and phases to lead the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of a bespoke, inclusive curriculum that meets the diverse needs of learners with SLCN. You will also be responsible for the strategic development of teaching and learning across sites. The role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of SEN pedagogy, curriculum design, and the ability to inspire and support staff in delivering high‑quality, personalised learning experiences.

The ideal candidate will have

* Experience of leading or coordinating curriculum design and implementation in an educational setting.
* Strong experience working with children with a range of Special Educational Needs, particularly SLCN, SEMH needs and autism.
* Proven experience to use pupil progress and attainment data to inform curriculum planning and provision.
* Experience of timetabling and balancing curriculum demands with staffing allocations.
* Experience of effective transdisciplinary working (e.g., with speech and language therapists, OTs, physiotherapists and arts therapists).
* Confidence and clarity in delivering lesson observations, learning walks and developmental feedback.
* Ability to build strong working relationships with internal teams, families and external agencies.
* Ability to review and apply statutory and best practice guidance within a school setting.
* Ability to promote and embody the school values of Kindness, Responsibility, Growth and Belonging.
* An understanding of trauma informed, attachment aware and person‑centred approaches to behaviour, alongside understanding of the importance of relationships and approaches such as PACE in supporting pupils’ development.
* Experience implementing teaching and learning requirements outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Experience delivering curricula across Pre Key Stage Levels, National Curriculum Levels, and Key Stage 4 and 5 pathways.
* A secure understanding that high quality teaching and learning underpin effective pupil wellbeing provision.
* Ability to plan and teach according to pupils’ individual learning profiles, using well matched resources to support consolidation, generalisation and appropriate stretch.
* A commitment to championing the best outcomes for vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils.
* Sound knowledge and understanding of adapting and personalising the National Curriculum, amongst other curricula, for speech, language and communication needs, as well as neurodivergent learning styles, such as autism and ADHD.
* Clear written and spoken English, with strong numeracy skills.
* Strong organisational and communication skills, including experience managing or supporting a team.
