The Chandler Junior School in Witley near Godalming, is looking for an empathetic, creative, and resilient SEN Teacher to lead a small class group within our on-site Lighthouse provision – a calm, supportive space where children can pause, reflect and reconnect with their learning journey. This unique provision - at the heart of our inclusive mainstream Church of England junior school - supports some of our current Key Stage 2 children with a range of complex needs, including ASD, SEMH, and learning difficulties, who are currently unable to access the mainstream classroom. Most pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and require a structured, nurturing, and therapeutic approach to learning. As the class teacher, you will design and deliver a bespoke curriculum that supports pupils from across the school in their academic, emotional, and social development. You will work closely with a small team of Learning Support Assistants and external therapists, when relevant. The role will suit a passionate and experienced teacher looking to make a meaningful difference to a group of children with high-level additional needs in a mainstream setting. We are looking for someone who is: • A qualified teacher (QTS) with primary teaching experience, ideally in a SEND or alternative provision setting. • Experience in working with children with ASD, SEMH, and complex behavioural needs. • Skilled in delivering a bespoke, child-centred curriculum, focused on social wellbeing, life skills, and behaviour for learning. • Passionate about inclusive education and believes every child can thrive with the right support. • Able to design engaging, creative, and kinaesthetic lessons tailored to individual needs. • Familiar with the SEND Code of Practice and the process of delivering and reviewing EHCP outcomes. • Experienced in using positive behaviour strategies, with a calm, consistent, and nurturing approach. • A confident communicator who can work collaboratively with families, therapists, and multi-agency professionals. • Resilient, proactive, and flexible – with the energy to embrace the challenges and rewards of a SEN learning environment. • Supportive of the Christian ethos of the school. What we offer: • A unique teaching opportunity within a small, highly supportive team. • The chance to co-design and shape a meaningful curriculum centred around therapeutic and academic development. • A strong staff wellbeing ethos – we care about your work-life balance and professional growth. • Opportunities for ongoing CPD, including SEND and trauma-informed training. • A welcoming and inclusive school community that lives its Christian values through action and relationships. • A warm, friendly team of colleagues who are passionate about making a difference in children’s lives. Salary: MPS plus SEN allowance Contract Type: Full-time, fixed term to 31 August 2026 (with possibility to extend) Start Date: As soon as possible and by January 2026 Closing date: Monday 20 October 2025 (midday) Interviews: Thursday 23 October 2025 (candidates must be available on this date) We warmly welcome visits to the school so you can see our provision in action and meet the team.
