Role Overview
Newcastle College requires a dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified person to take on the role of Technical Assessor at the Energy Academy. The role is expected to deliver and assess on apprenticeships within Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician and Machining at the Engineering Academy. This will include classroom delivery, workplace visits, regular employer reviews, updating relevant e‑portfolio systems and liaising with relevant awarding organisations.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver and assess apprenticeships in Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician and Machining.
* Deliver classroom sessions and conduct workplace visits.
* Carry out regular employer reviews.
* Maintain and update e‑portfolio systems.
* Liaise with awarding organisations.
* Self‑manage workload and meet deadlines.
* Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
* Use IT tools to support delivery and assessment.
Qualifications
* Strong background in Maintenance and Engineering and Machining.
* Proven track record of professional/vocational expertise in the Engineering sector.
* Qualified to the industry‑recognised standard in a relevant field.
* Hold a TAQA/equivalent qualification and English and maths qualifications at level 2, or willingness to achieve these within an agreed timeframe.
* Experience of effective programme leadership in apprenticeships and a proven record of successful teaching and assessment practice (desirable).
Working Hours
The hours of work will be flexible and may include evening and weekends according to demand.
