Community Support Worker

Stripes - The West Yorkshire ADHD Charity is recruiting for a Community Support Worker to join their team in an exciting and varied role supporting individuals and families across West Yorkshire who are affected by ADHD. This is a 3 year fixed term contract which may be renewed subject to funding.

This role requires flexible working across weekdays, evenings, and weekends to meet the needs of the community.

The role involves facilitating group sessions, activities and peer support opportunities including:

* Saturday play sessions for children with ADHD and youth group activities for teenagers (3 Saturdays per month)
* 'Me Time' sessions for parents/carers
* Trips and activities for children during term time and school holidays
* Peer support groups for adults with ADHD and parents/carers of children with ADHD
* Supporting with training sessions


Essential skills

* PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
* GCSE Grade 4 or above in Maths and English or equivalent
* Experience of working in a team setting
* Good communication, both verbal and written
* Ability and willingness to undertake further training as required
* Flexibility with hours/days of work including regular Saturday working
* Experience of working with neurodivergent children and/or young people (this may include parenting your own children, volunteering, or paid work)
* Ability to facilitate groups and activities
* Ability to travel across West Yorkshire
* Personal experience of ADHD
* Enhanced DBS check required
* Previous experience of working with families affected by ADHD
* Good understanding of SEND law
* Good understanding of DLA and PIP benefits


What Stripes offer

* 79 hours annual leave per annum (pro-rated equivalent to 25 days plus bank holidays)
* Employer contributory pension scheme
* Travel expenses (45p/mile) and travel time paid as working hours for journeys beyond your commute to our Durkar base

This role is 690 hours per annum (average 14 hours per week) - annual hours contract with more hours in school holidays and less in term time. £25,000 per annum rising to £26,500 after successful probationary period (pro-rated - actual salary £10,000 rising to £10,600).
