About the role… We're in need of a seasoned Senior IT Engineer to fortify our IT team, focusing on internal operations and collaboration systems within our expanding technology company. The role demands strategic planning and hands-on technical support for our predominantly cloud-based infrastructure across multiple sites. Reporting directly to the COO, this position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of two days in our Birmingham office weekly, with occasional travel. Our IT ecosystem heavily relies on Google Workspace, Zoom, Cisco, Palo Alto, Okta, and Jamf, catering primarily to a Mac-centric user base with ongoing migration efforts from Windows. The role of Senior IT Engineer is pivotal in maintaining and advancing our internal IT landscape and collaboration systems. Operating within a dynamic, growth-oriented environment, the successful candidate will contribute to strategic initiatives while offering hands-on support. Reporting to the COO, this role offers a hybrid model, with two days required in our Birmingham office and occasional travel. Our cloud-centric IT infrastructure, supporting domestic and international offices alongside remote workers, relies on Google Workspace, Zoom, Cisco, Palo Alto, Okta, and Jamf, with a predominant user base on Mac systems and ongoing migration efforts from Windows. This presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT professional to have a significant impact within our innovative organisation As one of our Senior IT Engineers, you will: Oversee internal IT, networking, and cloud-hosted services Develop and maintain systems architecture diagrams for documentation and support purposes Ensure data, network, and backup system security Lead hardware and software configuration upgrades through project management Identify and resolve problematic systems/issues with strategic solutions Evaluate new technologies and solutions, conducting cost/benefit analyses for recommendations Contribute to IT budgeting for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, while managing the IT Helpdesk System and resolving end-user issues To be set up for success as one of our Senior IT Engineers, you will have: Extensive hands-on experience in senior IT roles, encompassing network administration, IP/data/routing, switching, configuration, and troubleshooting Proficiency in Cisco network environments administration, with demonstrable expertise In-depth familiarity with the Apple ecosystem, managing predominantly macOS and iOS user bases, including proficiency with Jamf or similar Mac device management systems Knowledge in managing Google Workspace (G-Suite), Okta or equivalent, Atlassian products, Zoom, and other cloud-first IT systems Expertise in cloud-based IT service management, notably AWS infrastructure components, including on-prem to AWS network bridging Excellent understanding of VPN, DNS, DHCP, LANs/VLANs, especially within Cisco networking environments, and experience in firewall management (preferably Palo Alto), including rules configuration Proficiency in IT ticketing systems management against SLAs, with adept record-keeping skills utilising defined helpdesk software/tools, and the capability to research, design, and propose cost solutions to business challenges Nice to haves: Possession of Apple certifications (e.g., ACSP), Jamf training, or equivalent Apple business qualifications Completion of Okta Essentials training and certification Attainment of CCNP and/or CCNA certification or similar qualifications Linux qualifications/certifications across any vendor/distribution Experience and familiarity with ISO 27001 and other security compliance standards Foundation certification in ITIL V3 Proficiency in managing Zoom collaboration services, including video conferencing and Zoom phone, coupled with strong teamwork, initiative, creativity, maturity, and professionalism What we will offer you: 25 days holiday, plus Bank Holidays.
