Cheshire East Council are looking for a committed Tree Team Leader, to supervise an operational team, ensuring the development of cost effective and customer focused operations that are engaged in the daily delivery of environment operations within a commercial environment. Ensuring that all services are delivered in accordance with the Council's values, beliefs, priorities, policies, procedures and objectives. Ensuring that operations are carried out in a safe manner with regard to health and safety legislation, regulatory compliance and environmental standards. To ensure all commercial work is financially accountable and all financial targets are met. This role is subject to a market supplement. As a professional Tree Team Leader, you will assist in the provision of the Arborist team by: To plan and organise the work of the arboriculture teams including the allocation of human and physical resources within allocated budget parameters, ensuring efficient usage. Dealing with timesheets, managing holiday requests, administering sickness and absence processes. Collect in all operational task sheets and associated paperwork at the end of the day etc. To supervise the work of the respective teams in the postholder's control including undertaking regular and spot checks to ensure staff are wearing the correct PPE, official following operational policies and procedures, assessing compliance with transport legislation and good practice in relation to drivers' daily checks, defect reporting, working safely etc. Monitor and review scheduled operations and all commercial work. To ensure safety, health, environment and quality measures are met through compliance with current legislation and industry best practice. Offer professional advice and contribute to the preparation of tender documents, service specifications for the range of services subject to formal and informal contracts, and to prepare cost effective bids as required. Work within financial parameters ensuring all work is accurately accounted for and reported on. To be responsible for the investigation of reports of perceived service delivery failures and Corporate/Customer Complaints (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with company policy including liaising with the complainant, frontline teams and management to ensure that the root cause of the complaint is established and appropriate action taken to prevent further reoccurrence. Provide information for Freedom of Information requests in accordance with the Authority's Policy. The post holder should have excellent communication skills and will be required to provide specialist advice and guidance on the Tree Team's work. This will involve liaison with all Directorates, elected members, subcontractors, community groups, suppliers, Government agencies, external organisations and members of the public. To manage all aspects of staff management in accordance with the agreed policies and procedures including ensuring appropriate resourcing (through recruitment & selection or agency workers) within budget, undertaking induction and probation periods through to managing absences, poor performance, grievance and disciplinary matters including conducting investigating and presenting managements case at Hearings. Providing advice and guidance at all levels on issues relating to arboriculture. The information may need to be conveyed orally or in writing at a level appropriate for the audience. To carry out the start of day and end of day duties including allocating staff and vehicles, distributing vehicle keys, signing daily check forms, distributing task sheets and memos, issuing PPE, etc. The job holder may be required at any time to undertake any work up to and/or at a level consistent with existing responsibilities. These tasks may be at any location in Cheshire East, to ensure the effective deployment of labour, materials, transport and equipment to meet daily service needs.
