Salary/Benefits: Salary between £23,557 and £25,849 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

About The Role
We are currently seeking a Technician in Hair and Beauty to join our Hair and Beauty department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Technician, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
* Technical & Salon Support – Provide hands-on technical assistance in salon areas, supporting lecturers and students by preparing equipment, maintaining workspaces, and ensuring smooth lesson delivery.
* Stock & Equipment Management – Oversee stock control, equipment servicing, and procurement processes, ensuring resources are available, secure, and within budget.
* Health, Safety & Compliance – Maintain a safe, clean salon environment by conducting risk and COSHH assessments, monitoring safety via Smartlog, and ensuring compliance with all regulations.
* Learner & Reception Support – Assist learners in achieving qualifications, manage salon reception duties when needed, and address student conduct in line with college procedures.
* Safeguarding & Development – Promote safeguarding, equality, and health and safety, while actively participating in training and professional development to support the role.
About You
* Qualifications & Industry Knowledge – Experience in the hair and beauty industry with up-to-date knowledge of treatments, health and safety practices, and a willingness to gain relevant qualifications including First Aid and Level 2 English and Maths if not already held.
* Technical & Organisational Skills – Skilled in maintaining, preparing, and repairing salon equipment, managing stock inventories, and ensuring safe use of electrical items in line with college procedures
* Professionalism & Communication – Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently, follow instructions, and maintain a professional, welcoming environment for students and clients.
* Teamwork & Inclusivity – Demonstrates high performance, values team contributions, and promotes equality, diversity, and a supportive learning environment for all students.
* Flexibility & Commitment – Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to varied working hours and locations, with a strong commitment to safeguarding, continuous learning, and upholding the College’s reputation.
