This post is fixed term due to funding until 31/03/2026

The Clinical Practice Educator will support the provision of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) within Velindre Cancer Centre and Welsh Blood Service.

The post holder will be hosted within the Safeguarding Team at Charnwood House but will be expected to travel to other properties within the Trust.

A key element of the role will be identifying the learning and development needs of Health Care Professionals within the Trust and coordinating/implementing a development programme.

The post holder will also contribute to developing and implementing policies and procedures within their sphere of responsibility.

Main duties of the job

Working autonomously, the post holder will:

1. Identify and develop training opportunities for Doctors, Registered Nurses, Health Care Support Workers, and Allied Health Professionals within the Trust.
2. Identify the ongoing professional development needs of these professionals within the Trust.
3. Support the development of quality monitoring processes for in-house training programmes, including accreditation.
4. Support the development of multi-professional learning environments.
5. Provide clinical leadership and professional support within the Trust.
6. Work closely with education providers to ensure responsiveness to service needs.
7. Support the Head of Safeguarding & Vulnerable Groups and Senior Nurses in ensuring high standards of training are provided, monitored, and evaluated.
8. Support pre-registration and post-registration nursing students during placements and facilitate effective mentoring.
9. Identify and address education and development needs of the current and future workforce, providing appropriate professional development opportunities.

Job responsibilities

The Clinical Practice Educator will support the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) amendments before the transition to the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS).

The post holder will be hosted within the Safeguarding Team at Charnwood House but will need to travel to other Trust properties.

A key role will involve identifying learning and development needs of healthcare professionals and coordinating development programs.

The post holder will also contribute to policy and procedure development within their sphere of responsibility.

Person Specification


Qualifications / Knowledge

* Knowledge of Theories & Models of Learning for Educational Research & Practice.
* Extensive knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
* Professional knowledge at degree level, supplemented by specialist knowledge of mentorship, education, and development practice, at Masters level or equivalent.
* Awareness of the wider health and social care agenda.


Experience

* Experience in lesson planning and evaluation.
* Experience in clinical and theoretical teaching in various contexts.
* Evidence of achievement in clinical practice, e.g., Mental Capacity Act 2005, Best Interests Assessor accreditation.
* Experience working at Band 6 level or above in health and social care.
* Experience across different clinical settings.

Salary: £46,840 to £53,602 per annum, pro-rata
