Systems Manager (Clinical Applications)

We are seeking a proactive and skilled EPR System Manager to support the delivery and ongoing optimisation of our Community Dental Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system, alongside wider digital systems across the Trust. This permanent role is dedicated to the Community Dental EPR (0.6 WTE), with additional responsibilities for wider Trust EPR systems (0.4 WTE), ensuring a balanced portfolio of system administration, user support and configuration activity.
The postholder will play a key role in maintaining system availability, managing user access, supporting clinical teams, resolving incidents, ensuring data quality and contributing to safe and effective digital workflows. This is an exciting opportunity to support digital transformation and strengthen EPR capability across multiple clinical services.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will provide specialist system management and user support for the Community Dental EPR (0.6 WTE) and wider Trust EPR systems (0.4 WTE). Key duties include managing user accounts and access, maintaining system configuration, supporting clinical and operational teams, resolving incidents and service requests, and ensuring data accuracy and system availability.
The role will support workflow optimisation, contribute to testing and implementation of system changes, monitor data quality, and ensure compliance with Trust policies and digital standards. The postholder will work closely with clinical services, Digital Systems colleagues and suppliers to maintain safe, effective digital processes and enable high-quality patient care through reliable and well-configured EPR systems.

Job responsibilities
This role provides specialist system management, configuration and user support for the Trust’s Community Dental EPR (0.6 WTE) alongside wider Trust EPR systems (0.4 WTE). The postholder will act as a Systems Manager within the Digital Systems team, ensuring the availability, accuracy and safe operation of clinical systems used across multiple services.
Key responsibilities include maintaining system configuration and documentation, managing user access and security, supporting clinical workflows, resolving incidents, and ensuring high data quality in line with Trust policies and statutory standards. The role involves coordinating system patches and upgrades, contributing to testing and change control, liaising with system suppliers, analysing and resolving software faults, and producing system reports as required.
The postholder will work autonomously, influence decision-making with clinical and operational teams, promote best practice, and support service users to maximise the effective use of digital systems. They will contribute to system developments, support business continuity arrangements, maintain compliance with Information Governance, and ensure procedures are in place for monitoring system performance.

Qualifications
* Degree in IT Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related subject, or equivalent experience, with evidence of continuous professional development.
* ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management.
Experience
* In‑depth experience of managing, designing, configuring and supporting application systems.
* Experience working in an IT or technical environment with evidence of continued professional development.
* Experience of supplier or contract management.
* Experience of NHS or healthcare systems.
* Experience of teaching, coaching and leadership.
* Experience of managing change within an IT environment.
Special Skills & Knowledge
* Demonstrable skills in reporting and database management.
* Skills in structured query languages (SQL) or similar.
* Understanding of modern IT solutions and their application.
* Understanding of clinical processes.
* Ability to manage small projects and technical implementations.
* Experience of healthcare environments and working within systems development environments.
* Proven experience in developing computer‑based solutions.
* High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including persuasion, negotiation, training, empathy and reassurance.
* Ability to plan and organise workloads to meet objectives and deadlines.
* Ability to make judgements involving complex facts or situations and to analyse, interpret and compare a range of options.
* Ability to communicate highly complex, sensitive, contentious information where there may be barriers to overcome.
