Graphic Designer
Winchester College is seeking a mid-weight Graphic Designer to join our Marketing and Communications team to help execute the new visual identity of Winchester College, producing materials that communicate our values to a range of audiences, both external and internal.
The Role
The Graphic Designer will be responsible for delivering high-quality design work across a variety of media, from digital and social assets to print brochures, event materials, and environmental graphics.
Working within the College’s brand guidelines, the successful individual will bring creative flair and technical skill to ensure all communications are visually engaging, on‑brand, and consistent.
Your key responsibilities include:
* Design and produce creative materials for both print and digital channels, including:
o Prospectuses, brochures, and event programmes
o Digital and social media assets
o Advertising and promotional materials
o Signage, exhibition, and environmental graphics
o Internal communications and presentations
* Maintain and evolve the College’s visual identity, ensuring brand consistency across all materials.
* Triage and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
* Collaborate with stakeholders and the Director of Marketing and Communications to interpret briefs, develop concepts, and deliver high-quality creative solutions.
* Work with external suppliers (printers, photographers, freelancers) as needed to deliver projects effectively.
* Stay informed about design trends and technologies to ensure the College’s communications remain fresh and engaging.
* The role will have other responsibilities to support the wider Admissions Team and may include such other activities as the Headmaster may require from time to time.
About You
The successful candidate will have/be:
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
* Excellent IT skills and willingness to explore and learn new platforms.
Key Qualities
The successful candidate will be/have:
* 3–5 years’ experience in a graphic design role, ideally within an in‑house team or agency environment.
* Strong portfolio demonstrating both print and digital design work.
* Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop; After Effects or Premiere Pro desirable).
* A good understanding of typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.
* Experience working within established brand guidelines, with the ability to evolve and refine them creatively.
* Strong attention to detail, with excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Confident communicator who can take initiative and collaborate effectively.
What We Offer
* Start Date: As soon as possible.
* Hours of Work: This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, and such other hours as are reasonably necessary to meet the needs of the College and the demands of the role.
* Salary: The annual salary will be £32,000.00 - £35,000.00 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. Salary is paid monthly, in arrears, to a nominated back account in 12 equal payments.
