ABC Teachers is looking for skilled SEN Education Mentor to join a specialist SEN School in Birmingham on a full-time basis.

About the role

* Collaborate with classroom teachers to create vibrant, inclusive learning spaces where every pupil can thrive.
* Foster strong, professional relationships with students to understand their unique and often complex needs, ensuring they receive tailored support to flourish in the school environment.
* Provide personalised support through small group and 1:1 sessions, adjusting your teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles and needs.
* Track and evaluate student progress, using a mix of home-school assessments and comprehensive baseline diagnostics, aiming to reduce the impact of any medical or emotional challenges on academic success.

About the school

* A dynamic special‑education setting serving young people with a range of needs, including medical, mental health and autism spectrum challenges, across multiple sites.
* Driven by the ethos “Think Differently”, embracing inclusivity, high aspirations, and personalised development of both pupils and staff.
* A strong focus on staff development and wellbeing, recognising that a supported and well‑trained team is central to delivering exceptional outcomes for students.
* A varied curriculum offering academic, vocational and life‑skills pathways, with small‑group and 1:1 teaching to support student engagement and successful transitions.
* Enjoy access to modern, purpose‑built facilities including multiple specialist classrooms, a fully‑equipped kitchen for catering lessons, a sports hall, gym and Astroturf — designed to support both academic and vocational pathways.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of SEN Education Mentor you will:
* Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs.
* Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
* Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students
* Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
