Job Description
Role: Data center Technician
Responsibilities
* Experience in using Service-Now to create changes and CTASK, updates statuses and close down changes on completion.
* Proactively monitoring Service-now for alerts, incidents and tasks, corresponding and communicating with third-party vendors and internal clients
* Create rack elevation plans and patching schematics using excel and Visio for copper and fibre connectivity.
* Patching, racking and stacking for installs, following internal best practices & IMAC process.
* Installation and testing of physical patching to equipment, dressing down and labelling cables.
* Material control, maintain records of deliveries, storage and update ticketing systems.
* Daily housekeeping checks, reporting on noncompliance issues, hardware alerts and tracking until remediated.
* Managing access control process for the datacentre, raising requests tickets for authorised approval.
* A Pro-active approach is required for this role, to continuously improve services and processes.
Skills Required
* Basic hardware support not just limited to manual power cycling of devices as well as replacing any hot swappable components on request
* Emergency call out requires attendance at DC within 1 hour maybe.
* Must hold a full UK driving licence.
* A flexible approach is a must: Predominately working week days 9 – 5 in London but would be required to cover project work after 19:00 on week days and at weekends when necessary, occasionally would be a requirement to cover workloads at the customers second active datacentre centre in Singapore
* Knowledgeable in technical project requirements to give guidance of physical provisioning, power, cooling and logical network connectivity.
* Must have strong experience of IT infrastructure working in an in-house or COLO datacentre.
