Overview
Stantec is seeking a Structural Technician to join the Civil and Structural Engineering team in Cardiff. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality technical solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will be at the heart of project delivery, ensuring quality, coordination, and efficiency of technical outputs, while contributing to team development and continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead Project Delivery: Produce and coordinate 2D/3D models, drawings, and schedules for a wide range of engineering projects. Delegate tasks effectively and ensure outputs meet high standards and deadlines.
* Collaborate and Coordinate: Work with internal and external design professionals, manage document control, and ensure seamless coordination across all project phases.
* Develop Practical Solutions: Assist with engineering inspections, surveys, and reports, verify construction works against design, and recommend practical, buildable solutions that improve design outcomes.
* Mentor and Manage: Plan and manage workload and that of technician team members; provide guidance and mentorship for professional development. Assist with fee calculations and contribute to project fee proposals.
* Drive Innovation: Collaborate with internal task groups to improve workflows, share knowledge, and support efforts to enhance technical standards and efficiency across the business.
What You'll Bring
* Demonstrable experience as a Structural Technician, coupled with EngTech or equivalent experience
* Proven ability to lead the production and coordination of detailed structural engineering models and drawings
* Strong understanding of project stages, health and safety implications, and quality assurance procedures
* Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of working effectively with diverse project teams and stakeholders
* Experience in delegating tasks, managing workloads, and mentoring junior team members
* A proactive approach to continuous professional development, with the attainment or maintenance of EngTech status preferable
