Family Intervention Senior Practitioner Location: Kids (Yorkshire) The Active Centre, Castleford WF10 3UA Salary: £11,806.50 per annum Contract: 18 hours per week to include 2 evenings (flexible hours to be discussed at interview) Essential Requirement: Driver's licence The Wakefield Awareness Support Project (WASP) is a unique service dedicated to supporting the emotional wellbeing of children and young people who may be experiencing anxiety or low mood related to Autism Spectrum Condition or other neurodevelopmental differences — whether formally diagnosed or not. Our work focuses on: Building peer support networks for families Helping children and young people develop resilience Empowering parents and carers to confidently support their children and access the right services We work closely with families to set clear goals and positive outcomes, ensuring they feel understood, supported, and able to thrive. As a Family Intervention Senior Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting children, young people, and their families through tailored interventions and guidance. You will: Create a safe, supportive environment for children and young people with autism and neurodevelopmental conditions Provide guidance and support to parents and carers, helping them connect with others facing similar challenges Build strong partnerships with professionals across health, education, social care, and CAMHS Take a holistic approach when supporting families and working across teams Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings and discussions around referral pathways and parent training Support colleagues and volunteers with lived experience, helping them develop skills and confidence Manage a busy caseload, including support plans, risk assessments, and record keeping Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing of children and young people remains the highest priority What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who is passionate about supporting families and improving outcomes for children and young people. You will have: Experience working with children with autism and/or mental health needs Strong communication and relationship-building skills Confidence working collaboratively with families and professionals Good organisation and case management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and information management systems A resilient, empathetic and positive approach Why Join WASP?
