Are you a recent graduate looking to gain valuable experience in mental health services? This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills, work alongside experienced professionals, and make a meaningful impact.
LAMH is a charitable company who have been delivering community-based mental health services in the Lanarkshire area since 1983. An opportunity has arisen to work in an innovative new service working as part of the Primary Care Mental Health Team in Lanarkshire.
What will your role as a Mental Health & Wellbeing Worker look like?
· To develop an initial rapport with people using structured conversations to enable and empower them to identify their priorities and goals
· Following initial discussion identify a range of options that could assist the person to improve their mental health and wellbeing
· Prepare and facilitate follow-up appointments to support people to take an active role in the management of their mental health and wellbeing
· Following the first meeting agree with people’s initial actions to be taken and follow these through in line with the agreement throughout the duration of support
· To assist people to be more aware of paper-based and online self-management tools
· Active delivery of individual and group-based psychoeducational courses, including Living Life to the Full interventions
· To assist people to be more aware of and encourage them to use community-based resources and pursue their interests and aspirations
· To signpost and/or directly assist people to obtain advice and information on issues of concern/interest to them
· To signpost and/or directly assist people to access services provided by relevant statutory or community-based organisations
We are offering a **three-month placement** for graduates passionate about mental health. During this time, you will receive hands-on training, work directly with service users, and be supported in developing key skills essential for a career in mental health. Successful candidates may have the opportunity for a **permanent position** following the initial placement.
**What We’re Looking For**
- A degree in Psychology, Social Care, or a related field
- Passion for mental health and supporting others
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn and grow within a professional environment
A full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential
- Hands-on experience in a supportive team
- Training and mentorship opportunities
- Potential for a permanent role after three months
