Role Overview
We are seeking a detail‑oriented and commercially minded Part‑Time Management Accountant to take ownership of the monthly management accounts and month‑end reporting pack. This role is ideal for an experienced accountant who can work autonomously, meet tight deadlines, and provide clear financial insight to support business decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounts & Month End
* Preparation and completion of the monthly management accounts to agreed deadlines
* Full ownership of the management month‑end pack, including:
* Balance Sheet
* Cashflow
* Variance analysis vs budget and prior periods
* Key performance indicators (KPIs)
* Posting and review of month‑end journals (accruals, prepayments, payroll, depreciation, etc.)
* Balance sheet reconciliations and maintenance of supporting schedules
Financial Analysis & Reporting
* Provide clear commentary and analysis on monthly results, highlighting risks and opportunities
* Support budgeting and forecasting processes
* Assist with cost control and margin analysis
* Ad‑hoc financial analysis to support operational and strategic decisions
Controls & Process Improvement
* Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial data
* Improve and streamline month‑end processes where possible
* Liaise with external accountants or auditors as required
Skills & Experience Required
* Part‑qualified or qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
* Proven experience producing management accounts and month‑end packs
* Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups; Power BI desirable but not essential)
* Experience with accounting systems (e.g. Xero, Sage, or similar)
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non‑finance stakeholders
* Experience in an SME or fast‑paced environment
* Experience working in a part‑time or flexible finance role
* Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or business partnering
