Education required: To apply for this placement, you must be:
Currently studying an undergraduate degree in a range of degree including but not limited to business management, finance, risk management and communications.
Other requirements: You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You must be enrolled at a UK (United Kingdom) or ROI (Republic of Ireland) University for the duration of your placement.
If you have already graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme.
Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English
Expected Start date: September 2026
Duration: 1 year (approximately)
Salary: A salary of £25,400 plus a bonus.
Workplace Arrangements: Flexible working via performance with choice (office & home working may be available)

The Role
Overview of the Department
Research & Development Engineering Services provides facilities management, engineering and capital project services tailored to the needs of R&D. We collaborate with our suppliers to ensure our environments are safe, reliable, compliant and sustainable. As a global function we support over 13,000 people across 19 sites in 6 countries, covering 4.7 million sq ft with a budget in excess of £400m per annum.
There are multiple roles available within the department across our Strategy & Governance as well as Risk & Compliance teams. Within these, you will have the opportunity to become a true business partner, collaborating and building lasting relationships with key stakeholders. This is a fast-paced environment, offering you the chance to develop your drive and confidence to trust your own judgement. You will develop your problem-solving and communication skills, managing your own projects with a view to influencing others in the business. Finally, you will gain an awareness and sensitivity of different cultures and diversity within an international environment.
*The ideal candidate will possess skills allowing them to excel in strategy, governance, risk and compliance within the RDES department. This industrial placement is not intended for engineering undergraduates.

18. Supporting the design and deployment of our communications and engagement plans as well as initiatives which drive our culture
19. Project managing the transition of our services to a newly-negotiated Enterprise Facilities Management contract
20. Identifying and implementing business process improvements through an operational effectiveness mindset
21. Supporting preparation for internal and external audits to maintain GSK’s regulatory licence
22. Performing local management monitoring activities to ensure adherence to policies and procedures
