Overview
As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.
This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training and promote the use and benefits of Memex and improve the quality of intelligence submitted. You will provide face-to-face training on our Intelligence system, MEMEX, and support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices will be required on occasions. Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected to be in October.
Responsibilities
* Provide Memex training to area staff and promote the use and benefits of Memex; improve the quality of intelligence submissions.
* Deliver face-to-face training on MEMEX; support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
* Supervise intelligence logs to ensure high standards of quality and create entities from Memex submissions.
* Provide regular performance reports and feedback to improve performance.
* Maintain high standards of intelligence submission quality and carry out other duties commensurate with the role.
* Respond to incidents as part of an incident role, with arrangements to support business continuity and potential additional pay.
Experience/Skills Required
* Good understanding of Intelligence and Intelligence systems.
* Ability to advocate an intelligence-led approach and embed it across teams.
* Excellent influencing skills; ensure Memex use and safety checks are mandatory.
* Strong relationship-building skills and ability to deliver engaging, inclusive training.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on intelligence submission performance.
* Strong self-management and organisational skills; good teamwork to support colleagues.
