Overview
Wood is currently looking for a Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer with experience in design and implementation, compliance and safety. This role sits within our Systems Integration (SI) team as part of Woods Consulting business unit, supporting projects across the UK. The position will be for a minimum 12-month contract with a hybrid working arrangement. Office attendance is required on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at one of the following locations: Aberdeen, Glasgow, or Staines. Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
Responsibilities
* Design, development and implementation of control and instrumentation systems for a high-profile client within SI.
* Integrate a new system into existing interfaces such as MCC, switchgear, telemetry, and utilities, using much of the existing infrastructure including cabling, containment and instrumentation.
* Incorporate new instruments and upgrade cabling where required to support system enhancements.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle to ensure delivery and operational excellence.
* Coordinate the interfaces between package unit control systems and plant control systems; support MR, technical clarification and bid evaluations; review and approve vendor documents for incorporation into the design.
* Provide input to other disciplines (e.g., electrical consumption, heat dissipation, weight and dimension) as required for design.
* Prepare instrument bill of quantities and subcontractor requisitions for instrumentation installation work.
* Review and help prepare deliverables such as wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, hook-ups and cable specifications; conduct or participate in site visits as needed.
* Ensure all comments are consistent and included in drawings per applicable procedures.

Expected
* Bachelor's degree or master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering.
* Experience in a project delivery environment.
* Knowledge of ISA standards and other international standards for instrumentation and control.
* Knowledge of field instrumentation and familiarity with PC-based design software for sizing instruments, preparing requisitions and procurement of instruments.
* Strong planning, organising and execution skills.
Desirable
* Professional Engineer or engineering chartership preferred.
* Hands-on experience with Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI).
