Location: Glasgow – Govan and Scotstoun (On-site, with attendance required at a recruitment day in Glasgow)
Salary: £38,662.00 (plus an additional shift allowance of 33% may apply)
Your Mission:
As a Fabricator – Plater, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of naval defense. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Interpreting engineering drawings with precision
* Marking off materials for fabrication
* Preparing plates using various methods, including Oxy-fuel gas cutting and hand grinding
* Assembling ship structures such as shells, decks, bulkheads, frames, and longitudinals
* Fitting, fairing, and tack welding steelwork using fairing aids
* Fabricating essential ship items like seats, ladders, false flooring, and panels
* Outfitting ships with hatches, watertight doors, equipment seats, and false flooring
* Forming materials using machine tools, including rolling, flanging, and cutting machines
Your Skills and Experience:
We’re looking for someone with the following qualifications:
* Modern Apprenticeship certificate (Trade Papers) and a minimum SVQ 3 or equivalent
* Current knowledge and experience in fabrication
* Understanding of manufacturing processes
* Ability in tack welding
* Experience with Oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting
* Clear understanding of SHE and risk assessment
* Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights
* Safety certifications (e.g., SHE Induction, Risk Assessment, Working at Height)
* Background in a major construction or manufacturing environment
