A leading engineering and manufacturing business is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer with strong experience in heavy processes such as casting, forging, fabrication or other complex metal forming environments. This is a senior role with broad technical ownership, focused on improving process capability, supporting major engineering projects and driving production performance across challenging operations.
The Role
• Lead process development and improvement across heavy manufacturing areas including casting, forging, fabrications or heat treatment
• Develop robust process plans, routings, tooling and handling methods for complex metal components
• Support NPI activity with production readiness, manufacturing planning and process validation
• Deliver workflow improvements, bottleneck removal and cycle time reductions through practical engineering activity
• Specify and introduce new tooling, dies, jigs, fixtures and lifting or handling solutions
• Work with production, maintenance and engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues on the shop floor
• Support CAPEX projects, equipment upgrades and layout improvements for heavy process areas
• Maintain clear process documentation, standard operations and work instructions
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians
About You
• Strong background as a manufacturing engineer within heavy processes such as casting, forging, fabrication, heat treatment or similar
• Confident working in challenging production environments with practical knowledge of tooling, dies, process flow and handling requirements
• Skilled in lean methods, time studies, process mapping and continuous improvement
• Able to solve real shop floor problems and support operators with hands on technical guidance
• Comfortable leading technical projects and working closely with cross functional teams
• Practical, structured and driven to improve process capability, flow and production performance
