Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience working with a forensic patient population in high security. The post would be working within a well-established, staffed and resourced and respected Occupational Therapy service with patients with a primary diagnosis of server mental illness or personality disorder.
Responsibilities
* The post holder will take responsibility for one ward and work with Occupational Therapy Assistants in all the sessions with patients.
* The Occupational Therapy service works together to offer groups and individual treatment goals.
* The post holder will be a highly valued member of the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the team’s objectives.
* The post offers an opportunity to develop skills from band 5 with senior staff to support and give advice.
* The VdT Model of Creative Ability is a well-established model of practice used within the service.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Qualified Occupational Therapist with registration status to practice.
* Experience in mental health; experience in forensic settings is not required but advantageous.
* Resourceful, motivated and keen to take development opportunities in a high-security forensic environment.
* Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including vocational work areas, a health and fitness team and a recovery college.
* Strong commitment to reducing risk and offending behaviours as part of a secure care pathway.
