Sous Chef - Day Shifts Only
We are working with an award‑winning multi‑purpose retail outlet with several venues across the South of England. Each venue has a large, high‑volume on‑site restaurant providing breakfast and lunch between 9 am‑5 pm Monday‑Saturday and 10 am‑4 pm on Sunday. The venue offers full breakfast service until 11:30 am and then an array of hot food, served counter style, including fresh pizzas, home‑cooked pies and an on‑site carvery.
As Sous Chef you will work closely with the Head Chef and Restaurant Manager to manage all aspects of kitchen operation, ensure consistency across service, and lead a brigade of over 12 chefs.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the management of all aspects of the kitchen operation
* Complete tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
* Have knowledge of each section and support team members as required
* Manage your kitchen team
* Deputise for the Head Chef in their absence
* Ensure Health & Safety, EHO and HACCP standards and procedures are properly followed
* Assist with training, teaching new starters and supporting junior staff
* Liaise with other departments as part of the senior management team
* Complete stock checks, audits and ordering
Qualifications
* Experience in a busy, high‑volume kitchen
* Knowledge of counter service delivery
* Good understanding of kitchen processes and health & safety legislation
* Ability to follow menu guides and ensure consistency on dishes
* Leadership experience in kitchen sections and kitchen management

Location and Hours
Position based at a retail outlet outside the city centre, near Southampton. The role is 38‑hour contract, day shifts only. Commute is expected to be direct to the location.
