The Role:
The Head of Technical and Compliance role is a senior leadership role reporting to the MD and has the following direct reports; x 2 Quality Managers, Hygiene and Facilities Manager, Technical Services Manager, Health and Safety Manager and Sustainability Manager.
* Retailer and BRCGS Audit Management
* Food Specific Legal compliance.
* Compliance to customer requirements and standards.
* Service Supplier Management
* Maintain a high standard of Health and Safety standards across all sites.
* Keeping up to date and Horizon scanning for food safety and legality concerns.
* Facilitate the day-to-day Technical Management of ingredient approval, food production and distribution.
* Management of a large multidisciplinary team within the Technical and Compliance Department.
* Lead the Technical and Compliance Function to ensure they are engaged and high performing with a focus on problem solving and teamwork.
* Manage the resolution and close out of issues / incidents which have been escalated.
* Identify and implement Best Practice within the Technical and Compliance function to help facilitate business improvements.
* Accountable for ensuring that new products and processes are introduced to site that are safe, legal and compliant with customer requirements and on time.
* Develop and maintain a positive proactive relationship with key retail and export customers.
* Ensure all product specifications are continually reviewed and in line with customer requirements, agreed brand standards, operational capabilities and agreed cost standards.
* Drive Lean Manufacture, standardisation, and continuous improvement across the Technical and Compliance team.
* Work closely with and facilitate the Business Support and IT functions of the site to introduce Digital transformation to Technical administration.
* Contribute to the culture team and help to create an environment where we retain our teams and nurture them to be the best versions of themselves at work.
* Support projects to meet site Sustainability and H&S Targets
The Person:
* Demonstrable experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams in a food manufacturing environment
* Effective and proven project management skills
* Strong people and time management skills
* Firm decision making
* BRC Audit experience
