Electrical Machines Engineer
Full Time
Locations: Derby, Solihull, or Bristol
We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Machines Engineer to join our team in the UK, with locations in Derby, Solihull, or Bristol.
Our Electrical and Electronics team is part of E24S (Electrical, Electronics, Systems, Software, and System Security) and supports sectors including Civil Aerospace, Defence, and Power Systems.
Our current focus is on electrification of products, including electrical power, power conversion, energy storage, and distribution solutions. Projects range from TRL1-6 technology development to full-scale product demonstrations and certification work.

Role Responsibilities:
* Develop and analyze electrical machines, from requirements to design and manufacturing.
* Design electrical machines for various power levels, from prototypes to production.
* Work on high power density and high temperature electrical machines.
* Develop power systems integrating electrical machines, including conversion stages.
* Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams on Design for X principles.
* Produce detailed specifications and documentation.
* Conduct rig and laboratory testing of systems.
* Contribute to capability development and test facility enhancement.
Candidate Profile:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; Chartered Engineer preferred.
* Significant experience in designing electrical machines for aerospace or similar industries.
* Knowledge of interfacing electrical components like inverters and energy storage.
* Experience with various electrical machine types and design tools (MotorCAD, COMSOL, ANSYS Maxwell).
* Familiarity with system analysis tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK.
* Ability to produce technical documents and understand aerospace standards.
* Excellent communication skills.
