Overview
Health and Safety Coordinator [Temporary Cover] role at Cambridge Service Alliance. This post is fixed-term for 18 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is earlier. As part of the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute community, you will support the Health and Safety Manager, head of department, Principal Investigators and staff to ensure a positive and safe working environment.
The role is varied and covers a broad range of technologies, including genomics, proteomics, MRI, PET imaging and genetic modification.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the implementation and maintenance of local safety policies.
* Develop and deliver safety training.
* Conduct safety inspections and accident investigations.
* Carry out monthly checks on engineering controls.
* Maintain an adequate supply of safety equipment.
* Support administrative processes that enable safety duties to be carried out.
* Assist the Health and Safety Manager in disseminating safety information to staff.
* Foster a proactive and collaborative approach to health and safety in the Institute.
Qualifications
* Ideally educated to HND level in a Biological or Chemical discipline or equivalent.
* Previous health and safety experience in a research or technological environment.
* Experience working with radioactive material and Containment Level 2 laboratories would be advantageous.
* Good interpersonal, organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to communicate with people at all levels and work independently or as part of a team.
* Prepared to attend emergencies in the Institute out of hours on occasion.
