We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic singing teacher specialising in pop and commercial to join our busy and successful Music Department. Teaching students from young beginners to highly advanced on our vocational commercial music course and our performance foundation course, there is considerable scope to develop the role and increase hours with student demand.
Main Duties
* To teach one-to-one singing lessons as per the rotational timetable focusing on popular vocal techniques, styles and repertoire.
* Teach pupils, ranging in ability from beginners to highly advanced, the techniques and musicianship required to develop and improve, offering encouragement, support and guidance as necessary.
* To prepare pupils for internal and external commercial music performances and exams (RSL, Trinity, LCM or similar).
* To write and submit regular reports on pupil progress and maintain an up-to-date register
* To support and uphold the school's policies.
* To attend staff meetings, in-service training and conferences to keep up to date with teaching, learning and safeguarding procedures.
Person Specification
* Proven level of commercial/pop vocal performance techniques.
* Be able to deliver effective lessons through a variety of teaching techniques.
* Competent piano keyboard skills for accompanying students in lessons.
* Experience of one-to-one teaching.
* Proficient IT skills, including using Word, Excel, Outlook and MS Teams.
* Ability to work as an efficient, reliable and flexible team member, with the ability to collaborate and coordinate with the Director of Music and the music teaching team.
* Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all children and young persons in the school.
Desirable skills
* Experience of teaching music theory.
* Demonstrable experience in the commercial music industry.
* Experience of pop vocal recording.
* Experience / ability to run vocal ensembles, working in harmony.
