SEND Teaching Assistant – Swale
Start Date: September 2025 until July 2026
Contract Type: Full Time, Long Term Contract until the end of the academic year
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience in supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties? If so, we would love to hear from you!

Supply Desk are currently working with an outstanding SEND school in Swale that are seeking a full-time, long-term Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible until the end of the academic year. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a supportive, friendly team in a nurturing environment where you'll receive comprehensive training and guidance to support your professional development. The students are of secondary age and are working at varied levels, so the school offer a very bespoke curriculum that caters to students individuals needs and interests. There is a real community feel at this school and all students, staff and families feel valued.

About the Role:

As an SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting children with SEMH difficulties, helping them navigate their educational and social challenges in a safe and inclusive setting. You will work closely with students to provide tailored support and create a positive, empowering atmosphere that encourages growth and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored support for children with SEMH difficulties, helping them access the curriculum and engage positively with their peers.
Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and manage behaviour in a calm, supportive manner.
Work with teaching staff to monitor and track progress, providing feedback to help guide the child’s development.
Promote the social and emotional well-being of students, offering support as needed.
Create a warm, supportive, and inclusive environment that fosters positive mental health.
The Ideal Candidate Will:

Have experience working with children and young people with SEMH difficulties or other SEND needs.
Be patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting children’s emotional and social development.
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
Be proactive and flexible, willing to use your initiative to support students’ individual needs.
Hold a relevant qualification or have substantial experience in a similar role.
Have a current, valid DBS or be willing to obtain one.
