About the Role
Equitas are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing Secondary Special Educational Needs (SEN) setting, supporting students with a range of additional needs. You’ll be working closely with the class teacher to provide tailored support to a small class of 4–5 students, ensuring every child feels seen, supported, and empowered to learn.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with a range of SEN, including Autism, SEMH, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties.
*
Work collaboratively with teaching staff to plan and deliver personalised learning activities.
*
Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs in and outside the classroom.
*
Assist with personal care routines when required, always maintaining dignity and respect.
*
Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
*
Contribute to tracking progress and reporting on student development.
Requirements
*
A nurturing, patient, and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs.
*
Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential – experience and the right attitude matter most).
*
Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
*
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
*
A DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
