HousingDepartmentBackground:
Ourclient’sHousingteam,rankedbyTheLegal500directoryforitsservicesacrossEnglandandWales,providesassistancetobothlandlordsandtenantsonallhousingissues.Theirpractitionersarehighlyexperiencedinfindingsolutionstohousingdisputesandaimtoaddresstheissuesquicklyandeffectively.Ourclientofferslawyersupporteddisputeresolutionoralternativedisputeresolution(ADR)asameanstoresolvehousingdisrepairmatters.Theirdepartmentalsoregularlyrepresentsclientsinthecourtsforunlawfuleviction,possessionproceedingsandprepareapplicationsforjudicialreviewincasesofhomelessness.
MainResponsibilitiesoftheRole:
* ReportdirectlytoandcollaboratingwiththeBoardtoensureperformancetargetsaremet
* ResponsibleforallaspectsofHousingworkincludingprovidingtechnicalexpertiseandguidancetootherteammembers
* SignificantexperienceinrepresentingclientsasHousingCourtDutySchemeoverthelast2years.
* AbilitytomanageandsuperviseSolicitors,TraineeSolicitorsandCaseworkerstomanageappropriatecaseloadtypesandcomplexities
* Assistingwithdeliveryofappropriatetraininganddevelopmentinthedepartment
* VarietyofdutiesincludingdealingwitharangeofHousingcasesincludingHomelessness;Disrepair;Eviction;Possession;PropertyOwnershipDisputes;SuccessionforTenants;Housingadaptations;SocialHousing;NeighbourhoodProblemsmattersaswellasundertakingyourownadvocacy
* Dealingwithemergencycasesandidentifyingandcarryingoutstrategiclitigation.
* PreparingandmanagingfundingapplicationstotheLegalAidAgency
* Preparingdraftdocumentsincludingwitnessstatementsandprocessingevidence
* Youwillhaveaprofessionalpro‑activeapproach,strongclientcareskillsandbeinterestedinBusinessDevelopmentandMarketingtosupplementthesubstantialworkvolumesbroughtinbythecompany.
KeySkillsRequired:
* 3Years+PQEwithprovenexperienceofHousingandLitigation,includingcourtrepresentationessential
* MusthaveexperienceasDutyAdvisorunderHousingPossessionCourtDutySchemeoverthelast2years
* Mustmeetthe2013SQMSupervisorstandardinHousing,orwillingtoworktowardsthis
* ExperienceinwelfarerightsandcommunitycareissuesMusthaveaclean,validPracticingCertificateatthetimeofapplying
* Strongmanagementskills
* Committedteamplayerwithabilitytoapproachteamconcernsfairly,fostercultureofpositivechangeandencouragecrossreferrals
* Previousprovensupervisoryexperienceandworkingtokeyperformanceindicators
* Professionalwithaproactiveapproach;excellentclientcareskillsandabilitytodealwithvulnerableclientmattersinasensitivemannerandresolvecomplicatedpracticalitiesinvolvedinHousingissues
