The Role
We are looking for a visionary and credible leader, and a self-starter, who understands the power of collaboration and the importance of place-based economic development. The successful candidate will bring together employers, stakeholders and policy makers to shape the future of our key sectors, using data and insight to inform action and create meaningful impact.
The role is about more than just coordination – it's about drive, influence, insight and innovation. You'll be working with a wide range of partners from Local Authorities and anchor institutions to key policy makers, helping to build a shared vision for growth and resilience. The Sector and Cluster Development Manager will bring together teams, build strong relationships with external partners, guide and support stakeholders and confidently represent The Skills and Business Hub in a variety of professional settings.
This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring a solid understanding of the South-Central economy, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to lead joint projects that make real impact in the region.
Job purpose
The Sector and Cluster Development Manager will lead the design and implementation of a new initiative to bring together employers, stakeholders, and partners focused on the sectors and clusters that drive Berkshire's economy. The programme of work will serve as a platform for collaboration, insight sharing and collective influence on regional economic development. The postholder will be responsible for establishing and facilitating sector-specific roundtables, events and working groups, engaging a range of stakeholders. They will use LMI, economic data and insight to inform activity, ensuring that sector development is evidence-led, inclusive and aligned with the UK Industrial Strategy, Local Skills Improvement Plans and the Berkshire Economic Strategy. This role demands a high level of focus and determination to achieve impactful change. This is a new role so is expected to evolve over time as we develop our engagement with key stakeholders in each sector, driving income and business growth to create a sustainable long-term model.
What we're looking for
· Proven experience in economic development, business strategy or public policy
· Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
· Ability to interpret labour market intelligence and economic data
· Experience leading multi-stakeholder projects with measurable impact
· A proactive, collaborative, and visionary approach
