About the Role
Are you a confident, adaptable individual looking for a rewarding role in education? An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join a vibrant secondary school environment in the Ulverston area for the full academic year.
This is an ideal role for experienced cover supervisors, higher-level teaching assistants (HLTAs), or graduates looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will not be required to plan or mark lessons. Instead, your primary focus will be leading the classroom and ensuring students remain focused and engaged.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise whole classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 during the short-term absence of teachers.
* Deliver pre-set lesson plans and learning activities left by the subject teacher.
* Maintain a constructive, safe, and positive learning environment by managing student behaviour in line with school policies.
* Assist students with any general questions regarding the work.
* Collect completed work at the end of the lesson and provide brief feedback to the returning teacher.
What We Are Looking For:
* Experience: Previous experience working with young people aged 11-16 (e.g., coaching, youth work, camp leading, or classroom support) is highly desirable.
* Qualifications: A strong standard of education (minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths). A university degree is a plus but not essential.
* Skills: Strong communication skills, resilience, flexibility, and a confident classroom presence.
* Compliance: Must hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
Why Apply?
* Consistency: Secure a stable, full-time placement for a full 12 months.
* No Out-of-Hours Work: Enjoy the benefit of no lesson planning, resource preparation, or marking.
* Local Opportunity: Work in a supportive school community within the beautiful Ulverston area.
* Career Development: Gain hands-on classroom management experience.
