Overview
Electrical System Digital Transformation placement at Airbus Defence and Space Limited. 12-month placement starting in July, based in Stevenage. This internship offers hands-on experience in digitisation and electrical engineering, assisting the engineering team with the implementation of advanced digital solutions to enhance electrical systems.
What you will be doing
* Assist the electrical engineering team with the implementation of digital solutions and technologies to optimise performance and monitoring of electrical systems.
* Collect and analyse data from electrical systems to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement; use insights to inform decision-making and suggest optimisation strategies.
* Assist in IoT integration by incorporating devices and sensors for remote monitoring, data acquisition and predictive maintenance capabilities.
* Work with the cybersecurity team to ensure security and compliance of digital solutions and data transmission within electrical systems.
* Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering and digital technologies; propose innovative ideas to improve electrical systems.
* Maintain comprehensive documentation of digital transformation processes, including design specifications, implementation details, and testing procedures.
* Conduct testing and troubleshooting of digital solutions during the implementation phase.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, data analysts and electrical technicians, to ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
* Prepare periodic progress reports and presentations for management on project status and outcomes.
Requirements
* Undergraduates only; must be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.
* Studying towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
* Understanding of electrical systems, principles and components; basic knowledge of digital technologies, IoT and data analysis.
* Proficiency in programming is a plus (e.g., Python, C++, Java).
* Solid analytical and problem-solving skills; effective communication and teamwork abilities; demonstrated self-motivation and initiative.

Benefits and placement details
* Salary: £23,850
* 37 hours per week; flexible working hours; hybrid working; half day Fridays.
* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays; subject to completing full hours.
