Overview
Apricus Resourcing is working with an award‑winning, independent healthcare supplier that is recruiting a Pharmacy Technician for an ongoing contract role within one of the prisons they operate in Humber, Yorkshire. The role supports a client that delivers a range of healthcare services on behalf of the NHS, Local Authority Public Health services, and other partners.
Responsibilities
In this role you will:
* Work within a busy medicines‑management department, helping with reconciliation tasks and liaising with Primary Care and General Practitioners to optimise patient care.
* Hold senior responsibility for controlled‑drug stock control and management.
* Support the chief pharmacist in medicines‑management activities and collaborate with other healthcare professionals both internally and externally.
* Assist in the delivery of training to prison healthcare staff and GPs, ensuring medicine‑optimisation services are of consistently high standard across the organisation.
* Establish effective working relationships with the pharmacy team, GPs, non‑medical prescribers and all other members of the health‑care team to promote the objectives of prison healthcare.
* Represent the organisation at prison‑related public‑awareness events when required to promote a partnership approach to medicines optimisation.
* Build lasting relationships with key stakeholders, including external agencies, to help ensure safe and effective health and social care.
Qualifications
* BTEC or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
* Appropriate accredited technician checking qualification.
* Knowledge and passion for pharmacy legal requirements and controlled‑drug legislation, and substance‑misuse knowledge.
* At least two years of experience working in a prison or hospital setting.
* Ideally, a prison clearance for this role.
Working Hours
Shifts run from 07:30 to 20:30, 37.5 hours per week.
