Job Title: Mechanical & Electrical Estimator / MEICA Estimator Location: Southern Water Region (Flexible across the South) Job Type: Contract Role – INSIDE IR35 Company Overview I am seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Estimator to join the Southern Water Framework delivery team, supporting the successful pricing and delivery of complex M&E and MEICA schemes across the region. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in one of the UK’s most critical infrastructure programmes, working in collaboration with clients, designers, and delivery partners to develop best-value engineering solutions. The Role As Mechanical & Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for the preparation and coordination of estimates for M&E works within the Southern Water Framework. Working closely with estimators, bid managers, planners, and design and delivery teams, you’ll ensure high-quality, accurate pricing that reflects the client’s requirements and framework objectives. You will also engage directly with the client and supply chain to develop cost-effective, safe, and sustainable engineering solutions, contributing to both early contractor involvement and tender development phases. Key Responsibilities • Support all aspects of the pre-construction and estimating process for M&E projects. • Prepare multi-discipline tender pricing, from top-down budgets to detailed bottom-up estimates. • Read and interpret client specifications and design drawings, identifying value engineering opportunities. • Lead technical assessment of supplier and subcontractor quotations, ensuring accurate cost benchmarking. • Ensure estimates align with framework commercial requirements and deadlines. Key Requirements • Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent experience). • Proven track record in preparing M&E / MEICA estimates within the UK water industry. • Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes and associated mechanical and electrical assets. • Experience working in a framework or alliance environment, ideally Southern Water or similar (e.g. Thames, Wessex, Severn Trent). • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g. Candy, Conquest, Excel) and Microsoft Office suite. • Knowledge or experience of carbon data capture and sustainability within project delivery (desirable).
