Senior Structural Engineer
Newcastle
A leading multidisciplinary Consultancy with a strong national presence is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Newcastle office. The Consultancy delivers a comprehensive range of structural engineering services across all major sectors, combining technical excellence with practical, buildable and sustainable design solutions. Its portfolio includes residential, commercial, retail, industrial, education, healthcare and public sector developments, ranging from refurbishment and conservation projects to complex new-build structures.
The Consultancy's structural engineering capability spans the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and conceptual design through to detailed analysis, technical approvals, construction support and long-term asset appraisal. Working across steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber and hybrid structures, its teams are experienced in delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions that align with architectural intent, programme requirements and commercial objectives. By integrating advanced analysis tools, 3D modelling and collaborative design processes, the Consultancy consistently produces efficient, elegant and technically robust structural schemes.
The Senior Structural Engineer will play a pivotal role in leading the design and delivery of building structures across a diverse project portfolio. Responsibilities include undertaking structural assessments and inspections of new and existing buildings, preparing and reviewing detailed calculations, drawings, specifications and reports, and ensuring compliance with current UK design standards and Eurocodes. The role requires close coordination with architects, Civil Engineers and other design professionals to ensure fully integrated solutions.
In addition to strong technical capability, the successful candidate will demonstrate effective project management skills, including programme and resource coordination, commercial awareness and client liaison. The ability to mentor and support junior engineers, contribute to technical development within the team and represent the Consultancy confidently in meetings is essential.
Applicants should hold a relevant engineering degree and be Chartered, or working towards Chartered status, with a recognised professional institution. Significant experience within a consultancy environment delivering building structures is essential, along with proficiency in relevant structural analysis and design software. A full UK driving licence is required.
In return, the Consultancy offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, together with structured professional development, support towards Chartership and genuine opportunities for career progression within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
