Role Summary:
We are seeking aMotor Transport Managerto lead and develop our Motor Transport team, ensuring the effective maintenance of Birmingham Airport’s diverse vehicle fleet. From buses and fire appliances to snow-clearing and de-icing equipment, you will oversee planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance while upholding safety, compliance, and operational excellence to support business continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead, plan, and manage maintenance across a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
2. Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, CAA, DVSA, and Operator’s Licence standards.
3. Drive efficiency through cost control, KPI performance, and continuous improvement.
4. Oversee budgets, procurement of spares, fuel, and services using airport systems.
5. Act as the escalation point for transport compliance and vehicle maintenance issues.
6. Provide clear, consistent leadership to develop the team and champion a customer-first culture.
Experience Required:
7. ONC or equivalent qualification in Motor Vehicle Engineering (minimum NVQ Level 3).
8. Managers Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
9. Proven fleet maintenance management or workshop leadership experience.
10. Strong knowledge of compliance requirements and safe vehicle operations.
11. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
12. IT literate, with experience in reporting systems and administrative processes.
