Our client, based in Colnbrook and specializing in Hi-Val shipping, has a new position available for an Import Assistant. The successful candidate should have some previous import airfreight experience, be organized, possess good admin/IT skills, and hold a driving licence. Must be able to commute to Colnbrook, have a steady 5-year employment history, and a clean criminal record.
Main Purpose of Job
The Import Assistant will be a key member of the Imports team, ensuring the best client experience.
Main Responsibilities
The role of Import Assistant involves, but is not limited to, the following:
1. Monitor pre-alerts from foreign agents and raise import files.
2. Create records in the ERTS system for clearance.
3. Ensure all relevant and legal documentation is in place for Customs Clearance.
4. Complete and verify customs entries, checking the CPC after receiving instructions from the client.
5. Check the status of the client’s deferment account and organize payment to HM Customs if funds are unavailable.
6. Ensure the client file is complete with release information before delivery is organized.
7. Support management with deliveries in the transport department, considering size, value, location, and urgency.
8. Carry out accurate and timely billing for client accounts.
9. Undertake additional duties or assist other staff as reasonably requested by the Manager or Directors.
Essential
* Valid UK Driving Licence – some travel between depots may be required.
* Background & DBS checks due to the nature of the role.
