General Surgery Senior Clinical Fellow – Abdominal Wall Reconstruction

Overview
Position is a fixed‑term, full‑time (48 hours per week) post based at the Royal Infirmary from 1 August 2026. The post is suitable for a post‑CCT or surgeon at the end of training who seeks advanced training in open and laparoscopic complex hernia repairs, including TEP groin hernia repair.
Responsibilities
* Gain experience in advanced open and laparoscopic management of abdominal wall hernias.
* Perform techniques including open Rives‑Stoppa, open TAR, peritoneal flap, preperitoneal repairs, TEP/ETEP/TAPP for groin/midline/incisional hernias, Pauli repairs for parastomal hernias.
* Co‑operate with colorectal and urology teams on relevant cases.
* Maintain competence in non‑robotic hernia surgery.
Qualifications
* Post‑CCT (or equivalent) trainee with adequate previous training in open and laparoscopic hernia surgery.
* Support from current trainers confirming suitability for advanced training in abdominal wall surgery.
* Willingness to work a full‑time schedule and meet clinical demands.
