Teaching Assistant – SEND Specialist School
Location: Choppington
Pay: £507 – £550 per week
Hours: Monday to Friday | Full-time or Part-time available
Start Date: Easter 2026
Milk Education is recruiting a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a specialist SEND school in the Choppington area. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a supportive setting where staff are focused on helping every child build confidence and develop independence.
The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs including autism, social and emotional needs, and communication difficulties. The position is due to start after the Easter break, with a strong likelihood of the role progressing from temporary to permanent for the right candidate.
We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about supporting children with SEND and who may be looking for either full-time or part-time work.
The Role – Teaching Assistant
1. Support pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
2. Assist teachers with delivering tailored lessons and learning activities
3. Provide support for pupils with SEND including autism and communication needs
4. Help create a calm and structured classroom environment
5. Encourage positive behaviour and support pupils with their social development
6. Prepare classroom resources and support daily routines
Essential Requirements
7. Experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEND or specialist settings
8. A patient and nurturing approach
9. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
10. Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
11. Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
