Job Summary
At NHS Blood & Transplant (NHSBT) we are a kind of service that saves and improves lives. We have a unique opportunity to join our service within Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation (OTDT) as an Associate Product Manager.
As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective delivery of business and technology product change, into the live service environment by providing critical specialist knowledge of the Business and technology within their product domain to support the entire software delivery lifecycle (requirements, design, development & testing).
Main duties of the job
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with highly developed influencing and negotiating skills and have a thorough technical understanding of the existing OTDT technology products and current architecture. You will need these skills and this knowledge in the main focus of this role, to analyse, specify and deliver improvements to OTDT’s organ allocation schemes.
You will have product management skills and will support Lead Product Managers and Senior Product Managers with the creation and ownership of the product domain vision, demand management process, product backlog and integrated change roadmap and will champion improved ways of working (e.g. Agile).
The postholder will also provide subject matter expertise to other domains or projects across the business where critical change to OTDT technology is involved and therefore a dependency is placed on the product management team’s product specialist knowledge. (e.g. supporting NTXD and Donor Path Family Testing Development Programme),
The role will understand and manage the safe interaction of the equipment used and IT systems, to achieve safe donor and patient outcomes in the end-to-end process of managing OTDT products. This includes the way testing results are characterised by specialist testing equipment, the peripherals used in managing process like SDLC and their interaction with OTDT core systems.
About You
Experience and Knowledge
1. Experience leading user acceptance testing for technology change
2. Extensive knowledge of technology products within domain and their business use
3. Have extensive knowledge & technical understanding of the NHSBT technology domain application landscape and architecture
4. Current understanding of developments within the wider NHS including benchmarking with similar products & services
5. Experience of delivering change for large-scale complex technology change in the public sector
6. Expert in defining & communicating outcomes to be met by a product area and it’s related services, whether these are user needs, technical requirements or business-related outcomes.
7. Experience in championing and implementing changes that foster a culture of continuous improvement
8. Experience in working with teams and stakeholders to define user stories with suitable acceptance criteria, key performance indicators (KPIs) and associated performance metrics and measures.
9. Expertise in communicating ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audience groups using multiple remote and face-to-face methods
10. Expertise in producing clear written & visual communications and oral presentations about product- or service-related decisions and priorities
11. Expertise in forming productive working relationships with colleagues at all levels and within a complex structure
12. Working knowledge of Software Delivery Lifecycle
13. Basic knowledge of other NHSBT software systems.
Qualifications and Training
14. Master’s degree OR equivalent extensive related experience and training.
15. Demonstrate commitment to own Continued Professional Development (CPD)
16. Willingness and ability to undertake frequent travel and spend time away from base to meet the requirements of the post (with appropriate prior notice).
