Job Title: Adult Community Speech and Language Therapist – Kettering Banding: Band 6 Location: St Mary's Hospital, Kettering Start Date: ASAP Rate: £24.00–£27.00 per hour Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time Duration: 3 months (with potential for extension) Job Overview We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join the Adult Community Team based at St Mary’s Hospital in Kettering. This role involves working with adults with progressive neurological disorders and swallowing and communication difficulties, providing assessment, treatment, and ongoing management. The position will involve working in various community settings, including patients' homes, nursing homes, and clinics. You will be responsible for triaging referrals and helping manage the Speech and Language Therapy community waiting list. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will: Provide specialist assessment and treatment for adults with swallowing and communication disorders, particularly related to progressive neurological conditions. Manage a caseload involving dysphagia assessment and treatment, delivering care across community settings. Triage the St Mary’s Hospital SLT community referral list and support community referral management for the North Kettering area. Carry out home visits, attend nursing homes, and conduct clinic-based assessments as needed. Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with professional standards and local policies. Collaborate with the wider multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic care. Qualifications and Experience To be considered for this role, you must have: A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent). Current HCPC registration. Proven experience in the assessment and management of dysphagia. Experience working with adults with progressive neurological disorders. SystmOne experience (current or recent) and an NHS Smartcard.
