Job Summary
We are recruiting additional Band 6 roles for the Paediatric Emergency Department. This dynamic role offers opportunities to work across other Trust sites and provides professional development such as Paediatric Crisis SIM courses, APLS training and Paediatric A+E courses. Our dedicated Practice Development Nurse supports you throughout your career.
Main duties of the job
* Accountable for standards of professional practice as set by the NMC Code of Professional Standards, relevant guidelines and the NMC Code of Practice and behaviour;
* Nurse‑in‑charge for the department;
* Supervise, support and educate other team members, including nursing and medical students;
* Ensure safe and effective clinical practice enhances patient experience;
* Promote and implement trust policies and organisational objectives;
* Promote the Trust’s vision, values and divisional objectives.

Person Specification
Essential
* Registered Nurse – Child (RSCN/RNC) with current NMC registration;
* Experience within an acute or emergency Paediatric setting – effective shift coordination, patient care management, staffing and resources;
* Mentorship, teaching and assessing.
Desirable
* Module in a relevant specialist area (e.g., children’s emergency nursing module) and/or Degree (or working towards) in a relevant health subject;
* Experience of Paediatric emergency nursing at a Band 5 level;
* Advanced competency in nursing skills: triage and assessment, plastering, intravenous/central line management.
