Job Title: Part-Time Childcare Practitioner / Play Assistant
Location: Angus (Kirriemuir, Forfar, and Birkhill – working across our nursery and after school settings)
Hours: Part-time, contracted 20 hours per week (Monday 8am – Friday 6pm). Additional hours available to cover holidays and staff absences, depending on business needs.
Contract: Permanent, Part-Time
Salary: In line with National Minimum/Living Wage (depending on age and qualifications)

The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring Childcare Practitioner / Play Assistant to join our team. This role will be shared across our nursery and after school club, with flexibility required to work in Kirriemuir, Forfar, and Birkhill.
Your contracted hours will start at 20 hours per week, with opportunities to increase your hours to cover sickness and annual leave. Shifts will fall between Monday 8am – Friday 6pm.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high-quality care and support to children in both nursery and after school settings.
* Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for play and learning.
* Support children's individual needs and encourage their social, emotional, and educational development.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to team planning.
* Build positive relationships with children, families, and the wider team.
* Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, and Care Inspectorate guidelines.
Essential Requirements
* Minimum SCQF Level 6 qualification in Childcare (to meet registration requirements as a Play Assistant with the SSSC).
* PVG Scheme membership (or willingness to join).
* Ability to work flexibly across different settings in Angus.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development.
Desirable
* Previous experience in a nursery, after school, or childcare setting.
* Full driving licence and access to transport.
