Position Type: Amphitheater/ Stagehand Date Posted: 1/12/2026 Location: Devon Amphitheater JOB TITLE: The Devon - Stagehand LOCATION: The Devon Amphitheater CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time, Non-Exempt WAGE: $17/hour SUMMARY Will work with the Stage Manager for set-up, execution and teardown of all events at The Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater. SUPERVISOR RELATIONSHIPS Reports to the Stage Manager and Amphitheater General Manager ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Prompt, professional workers needed to complete our stage labor crew While stagehands are not in the spotlight, they work behind the scenes to set band equipment and take down the equipment after the concert Assist in moving aluminum trussing, electrical cable, lighting equipment and speaker boxes Assist in setting stage risers, microphones and electronic equipment Assist in loading/unloading equipment as necessary Attentively follow the instructions of the stage manager in a safe, prompt, thorough manner Interact with visiting artist crews to ensure that they have a positive experience REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred Previous concert venue experience is a plus Available to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, holidays Must be able to stand/walk frequently during shift Good communication and interpersonal skills Honesty and high moral standards Courteous, observant, professional, reliable, team player Must be physically fit to perform job duties Subject to background check, no felony convictions Valid IL Driver’s License required EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred Previous concert venue experience is a plus HOURS Sunday through Saturday, varied hours based on the facility’s hours of operation, with work hours designated by the Amphitheater General Manager Overtime, as needed Employee may work a combination of daytime, evening, split shift, weekend and holiday hours Employee is considered to be on duty whenever the need exists PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS Sitting – occasionally Walking – frequently Strength –heavy (50 lbs. ) Climbing – occasionally Balancing – occasionally Stooping – occasionally Kneeling – occasionally Crouching – occasionally Crawling – occasionally Reaching – frequently Handling – occasionally Fingering – occasionally Feeling – frequently General work area is outdoors at The Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater Exposure to noise distractions from employees or equipment operation in adjacent work areas Exposure to chemicals such as cleaning materials Exposure to chronic infectious disease while performing routine first aid or emergency procedures Decatur Park District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
