Overview
We are pleased to advertise a permanent Principal Practitioner post in our Adult Critical Care Unit (ACCU) based at UHNM. The ACCU has expanded MDT rehabilitation across the care pathway, including in-patients, ward follow up, and an out-patient clinic. The expansion includes psychology for patients, staff wellbeing and support for families/carers. This has led to the development of our specialist Critical Care Psychology Team, which includes a Consultant Psychologist, Principal Psychologists, Senior Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Psychologists. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Psychologist to support the innovation, ongoing development and delivery of psychological services across the care pathway.
Responsibilities
* Provide highly skilled psychology service in the specialist areas of critical care at UHNM, with support from the strategic and clinical lead and the Consultant Psychologist within critical care (NSCHT).

* Lead clinical screening, triaging, assessment and treatment of patients at high risk of psychological distress related to critical care experiences, including patients with new or pre-existing mental health difficulties.
* Support patients’ families experiencing PTSD, depression and anxiety related to their experiences in intensive care and treatment, and provide staff support, consultation and advice.
* Demonstrate expertise in working within physical health care settings and contribute to a broader physical health psychology context.
* Provide leadership in clinical assessment, interventions, signposting, caseload management, risk assessment/management and individual/group psychology programmes in a timely and professional manner.
* Lead, manage and develop services with a demonstrable interest in working with adults with physical health problems and an MDT approach. Availability to work from site; days can be discussed and negotiated prior to interview.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience of leading psychology services and a track record of working with adults with physical health problems within an MDT setting.
* Expertise in clinical assessment, interventions and signposting for psychologically distressed patients and families in a critical care/physical health context.
