Logistics Manager Location: Tilbury Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Role Overview A highly capable and experienced Logistics Manager is sought to lead logistics operations at a busy site in Tilbury. This position requires a hands-on and strategic leader who can drive efficiency, ensure operational excellence, and manage a dynamic team. The role reports directly to the Head of Operations and involves close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to optimise logistics performance and achieve business objectives. Key Responsibilities Manage all logistics functions to ensure smooth and efficient operations across the site. Provide expert leadership and guidance to logistics staff, including the development and coaching of direct reports. Ensure adequate staffing and resource cover at all times to maintain service levels. Collaborate closely with the Head of Operations to ensure timely execution of all logistics duties. Monitor haulage profitability and implement measures to improve margins. Maintain high levels of order accuracy and ensure internal shunt utilisation is maximised. Oversee daily site activities, ensuring seamless workflow and operational consistency. Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and support wider business goals. Analyse financial data, manage budgets, and identify opportunities to enhance profitability. Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and industry-specific requirements. Continuously improve systems, processes, and best practices to maximise productivity. Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and deliver ongoing training and support. Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying trends and areas for improvement. Lead procurement activities and coordinate the allocation of materials and resources effectively. Maintain clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding projects and priorities. Proactively identify operational challenges and implement solutions to optimise service delivery and revenue. Report regularly to senior management, offering insights on operational performance and business efficiency. Essential Attributes: Calm, composed, and able to work effectively under pressure.
