The role
Description Salary: M1 - M6 (£32,916 - £45,352) Dependent on experience Hours of work: Teachers pay and conditions Full Time equivalent. Contract: Fixed term for 1 year A bit about us: St Joseph’s is a small, nurturing school with ambitious plans for growth. We are excited to advertise for an experienced KS2 class teacher who has the skills, imagination and passion to inspire our children and secure for them the very best of outcomes. Our unique, historic site crosses the old town walls and leads down to a secret space beside the river. We have the feeling of a village school with a real sense of community and strong links with our wider Catholic family. Alongside our academic achievements we have highly successful music and sport provision. Our children take part in carnival, perform musicals in Malmesbury Abbey, and sing for the elderly in their care homes. All children have the opportunity to compete in local and regional sporting events throughout the year. We will offer you: • A small, thriving school for children aged 2–11 • A happy school community with well-behaved children who enjoy learning • A caring ethos centred on dignity, compassion and celebrating each child’s uniqueness • High quality opportunities to develop professionally, for example through subject leadership across the School • High levels of autonomy • A committed, nurturing and hardworking staff team, determined to achieve the very best outcomes for the children they teach. • Supportive parents and governors who work in partnership. • The potential in future to be supported within a Multi-Academy Trust The Governors are looking for a committed teacher with the main responsibilities: • To lead teaching and learning for a Key Stage 2 class in line with the School’s curriculum • Monitor the quality of teaching and learning within the phase and provide constructive feedback and support • Ensure statutory requirements and safeguarding procedures are fully met • Contribute to whole-school leadership and improvement planning • Support recruitment, induction and professional development of Teaching Assistants • To develop and review regularly the vision, aims and purpose for the designated whole-school subject area, with overarching responsibility for pupils’ achievement and standards across year groups • To be a strong classroom teacher and to carry out the duties of a class teacher as set out by the school • To contribute positively to the school community and its ethos • To build effective professional relationships with colleagues, parents, external partners and the wider community Roles and responsibilities: • Model excellent classroom practice and maintain high expectations for all pupils • Plan and deliver a broad, balanced and creative curriculum, including outdoor learning • Create an enabling environment/provision that meets the needs of all learners both inside and outside • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and identify next steps for learning • Promote high standards of behaviour, wellbeing and inclusion • Ensure continuous provision supports high-quality child-led and adult-directed learning • Keep up to date with developments in early years education and implement best practice • Promote early language, communication, phonics and personal development across the phase • Ensure effective support and provision for children with SEND and disadvantaged pupils • To understand how to assess pupils’ work in relevant subjects and curriculum areas • To manage behaviour effectively to ensure a safe and productive learning environment • To follow the school’s policies and procedures consistently • To work well with parents, staff and other stakeholders • To manage and use support staff and resources effectively within the classroom • To oversee and provide support for classroom displays • To meet deadlines in a timely manner • To lead whole-school assemblies each week, as required by the Head • To be on duty in the playground each week, as required • To have responsibility as a subject lead across all year groups • Is highly motivated and self-driven with an ambition to be an excellent teacher. • Wants to inspire our children and help them to achieve their full potential academically and as individuals. • Will fully engage with professional development opportunities. • Has experience and success in working with younger pupils. • Will engage fully with our supportive community.
